A historical documentary drama was shown at KRSU «Turkestan. Echo of conquest and voices of friendship»

On February 27, a special screening of the historical documentary drama directed by Svetlana Popova «Turkestan took place in the Great Assembly Hall of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. Echo of conquest and the voice of friendship».The film was created with the participation of writers, scientists and cultural figures from Bishkek, Almaty and Tashkent. The film was shot in four countries — Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia — and is dedicated to the history of relations between peoples, issues of friendship and cultural interaction in modern realities.Stanislav Kulikov, Vice-Rector for Youth and Information Policy of KRSU, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He noted the importance of holding such events at the university:«It seems very important to us that the younger generation can communicate and ask questions first-hand, from the lips of those people who create such high-quality products. It's nice that students find time not only for study and science, but also for the cultural agenda».A special part of the program was a meeting with director Svetlana Popova. She spoke about the work on the film, emphasizing that a significant part of the filming took place in Kyrgyzstan, and historical reconstructions were carried out with a high degree of authenticity — using authentic objects of the 19th century and careful elaboration of costumes and details of the era.After the screening, an open dialogue took place with the audience. The guests expressed gratitude for the opportunity to see the film and offered to expand its screening in educational institutions across the country. There was an initiative to recommend the film for viewing in schools in Kyrgyzstan as an important material that helps strengthen interethnic understanding.The director of the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage KRSU Leonid Sumarokov, who also became one of the speakers of the film, took part in the discussion. He noted that there are no fictional plots in the film, and the historical images presented are based on real facts and events, including those related to the activities of Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky.The show became part of the university’s cultural and educational agenda and another platform for open conversation about history, memory and continuity of generations.
