The School of Elders has started at KRSU

Today, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University hosted an introductory lecture by the School of Headmen — a project aimed at developing leadership competencies and expanding students’ ideas about how the university is structured and how educational work is structured.

The School of Headmen annually brings together active representatives of student groups who play an important role in the interaction between students, deaneries and administrative departments of KRSU.

During the first day, participants were told:

• about the history of KRSU and the people who were at the origins of the university;

• on the management structure — from the Academic Council and the Rectorate to faculties and deaneries;

• about the types of training sessions: lectures, practical training, seminars, laboratory work;

• about the duration of the couple, breaks and the logic of constructing the educational process.

The elders were shown a video about the role of the elder at the university — as an intermediary between students and the administration, a person who helps the group resolve issues, motivates and creates a healthy educational climate.

After the introductory lecture, the chairman of the trade union organization of students, Maxim Belov, held an open discussion with the participants. Students raised topical issues related to infrastructure and learning environments.

The format of the live dialogue made it possible to collect proposals and identify problems that will be taken into account in further work with faculties and services of the university.

This is only the first stage of the three-day program. Ahead of participants are classes on student life, youth projects, development opportunities at the university, as well as discussions on how to build communication within the academic group and what resources are opened for elders after graduation.

The school of elders will continue to operate tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
