A renovated boarding school named after Valentina Tereshkova and a Russian language classroom were opened in Osh
In the city of Osh, a solemn opening ceremony took place for the renovated building of the boarding school named after Hero of the Soviet Union Valentina Tereshkova and a modern Russian language classroom.
The event was attended by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the head of the Russian Presidential Administration for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Igor Maslov, as well as Valentina Tereshkova herself, who joined the ceremony via video link.
Valentina Tereshkova, addressing those present, recalled the history of cooperation: «In 1979, we actively collaborated with your school, and I was glad to see how students from both Kyrgyzstan and Yaroslavl worked together and exchanged knowledge. I hope that many specialists have grown up among them, working for the benefit of our countries. Look at the wonderful physical education complex open at the school, literally nearby. This opens up great opportunities for future sports and health professionals».
The boarding school was built back in 1963–1964 and over the years has trained thousands of graduates, including deputies, ministers and public figures. Among them — Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev. Today, the boarding school provides an opportunity to study for children from low-income and large families, as well as children in difficult life situations.
After reconstruction, building is designed for 700 students, including 500 places in the dormitory. The school territory occupies more than two hectares, where modern conditions for study, sports and recreation have been created.
President Sadyr Zhaparov, addressing the teaching staff and students, noted: «Let individuals come out of this school who will contribute to the socio-economic development of the country. I wish the team of teachers great success».
As part of the opening, a new Russian language classroom was presented, created with the support of Russian educational organizations and the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. KRSU donated to the school sets of textbooks on the Russian language and world literature, books for the library, equipment for robotics and digital simulators for studying programming and elements of machine intelligence. There are also online courses for schoolchildren and teachers, internships at RUDN University and a trip for ten school students to St. Petersburg.
The project of Russian language classrooms in Kyrgyzstan has been implemented since 2020. During this time, 18 schools across the country received specialized stands and equipment, becoming winners of Olympiads and competitions organized by KRSU.
The opening of the renovated boarding school named after Valentina Tereshkova became a significant event for the region, symbolizing the development of educational ties between Kyrgyzstan and Russia and opening up new prospects for schoolchildren.
