The opening of a historical student club took place at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, which received a symbolic name «Berkut».
Among the Kyrgyz people, the golden eagle is a symbol of strength, wisdom and pride, the guardian of traditions and memory. It occupies a worthy place in national culture, personifying man's connection with nature and spiritual heritage. The club was created at the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage of KRSU. Its task — is to become a key platform for the implementation of research initiatives and projects, as well as scientific and cultural and educational events. It also became symbolic that the club’s activities begin in the year of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist, traveler, public and statesman Pyotr Petrovich Semenov-Tyan-Shansky. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the club, director of the Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage of KRSU, Candidate of Historical Sciences Leonid Sumarokov noted that the symbols of the club also reflect its active mission to preserve historical memory and develop intercultural dialogue.
