On the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) took an important initiative — restoration of the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov.
This monument, which was erected in 1972 in the village of Panfilovskoye at the expense of local residents, has fallen into disrepair over the years and needs urgent restoration work.
Today, March 12, a delegation of the KRSU led by acting rector Sergei Volkov visited the monument to inspect and assess its condition. The following issues were identified during the audit:
- The pedestal of the monument is scribbled and damaged;
- The monument's cladding is starting to crumble;
- There is no information sign on the monument;
- Granite slabs damaged and broken;
- The foundation of the monument is being destroyed due to erosion by groundwater.
