The revived Pushkin, Onegin and Tatyana – how International Russian Language Day was celebrated in Bishkek

Concerts, flash mobs, competitions and quizzes related to Pushkin and the Russian language were held throughout Kyrgyzstan.

 

Celebrations were held in Kyrgyzstan in honor of International Russian Language Day. According to the UN decision, since 1999 it has been celebrated on June 6, the birthday of the classic of Russian and world literature, one of the founders of the Russian literary language, Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. Concerts, flash mobs, competitions and quizzes related to Pushkin’s work and the Russian language were held throughout Kyrgyzstan.

 

In Bishkek, a significant part of the events for this day were organized by the B. Yeltsin KRSU and its Institute of Russian Language named after A. Orusbayev. The Day of Pushkin and the Russian Language in the capital of Kyrgyzstan began there – and not by chance: there is a monument to the classic near the main building of the university.
