"Pushkin Days" dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the poet’s birth began in Bishkek

Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Udovichenko noted that the republic "honors the memory of the great Russian poet."

BISHKEK, June 6. /TASS/. The celebration of "Pushkin Days", dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, began in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the republic. 

"This is a series of cultural events dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Pushkin and Russian Language Day," the representative office noted.

As the Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Udovichenko said at the ceremony at the beginning of the celebration, the republic "honors the memory of the great Russian poet.". "Streets in populated areas of the republic are named after the writer, 8 Kyrgyz schools are named after Pushkin. I am confident that the Russian language will retain its importance in Kyrgyzstan and, within the framework of bilingualism, will contribute to the implementation of all plans," noted the head of the diplomatic mission.
