The collection of memoirs «Siege of Leningrad: Remember, not just know» includes stories reflecting the vicissitudes of the lives of ordinary defenders of the hero city.
The main mission of the project, according to the authors, is to preserve the historical memory of the tragedy of besieged Leningrad.
The creators hope that the stories published in the collection will, first of all, touch the hearts of young people, reveal new pages of history for them, and form a reliable picture of those alarming and memorable years, which ill-wishers are currently trying to distort and cross out.
The author of the idea and one of the compilers of the collection, Evgeny Umerenkov, in his speech recalled that there are fewer and fewer living blockade survivors and their children left in the world, those who can tell for certain seven stories of the heroic and tragic years of the siege of Leningrad.
