Digital intensive in Bishkek: a new project of KRSU and the Big Data Consortium
40 teachers and undergraduates of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. B.N. Yeltsin participate in the «School of Applied Data Analysis». In less than three weeks, they will master AI and Big Data technologies, which will help them strengthen their scientific and research activities at the university.
The project «School of Applied Data Analysis» has been implemented in Russia since 2018. Organizers: educational company «Data-Diving Academy» with the support of the University Consortium of Big Data Researchers (Big Data Consortium).
The training began in an online format on March 24, and on March 27 and 28, offline lectures were held, conducted by experts from the University Consortium of Big Data Researchers: Chairman of the Board of the Big Data Consortium Mikhail Myagkov, analyst of the Research Laboratory of Applied Big Data Analysis of TSU Polina Basina, Head of the Center for Technological and Research Support of the Institute of Distance Education of TSU Artyom Feshchenko. From March 29 to April 10, students will have to do group work and defend projects.
«Teachers and undergraduates of KRSU will master methods of searching and collecting data, algorithms and tools for their analysis, and the basics of statistics. Project protection will take place online. In just 2.5 weeks, students will receive a large amount of knowledge in an accessible form: this is important, since participants are not required to have programming skills at the start. Then, under the guidance of our teachers, they will implement their first projects and defend them online. Over the five years of work «of the School of Applied Data Analysis», we have become convinced that our approach opens up the world of data even to an unprepared audience», comments Yulia Mundrievskaya, academic director of educational programs «Data Diving Academy».
As Evgeniy Shekunov, Vice-Rector for International, Scientific and Innovation Activities of KRSU, noted, «School of Applied Data Analysis» — this is an important step in the development of digital competencies of university teachers and researchers.

Big data analysis allows us to improve curricula and adapt the educational process to the individual needs of students. We are confident that mastery of data methods and AI tools will help improve the quality of education and scientific research, and will also strengthen the position of KRSU in the international academic community», — commented Evgeniy Shekunov.
It was previously reported that KRSU joined the Big Data Consortium in 2025 and became the first university representing Kyrgyzstan in the association. Until this moment, the Consortium included 77 universities from four countries — Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Armenia.
