Exploring the Epic «Manas»

KRSU published a textbook «Manas Studies» on the study of the epic «Manas» in the light of not only modern historical, literary, but also philosophical and cultural concepts presented by the domestic scientific tradition. The manual was prepared by well-known researchers in the republic «Manasa» – professor of the department of theory and history of literature Sh.B. Akmoldoeva in collaboration with the rector of KNU named after Zh. Balasagyn K.Zh. Sadykov.

The book is intended for everyone who strives to enter the circle of cultural, historical, philosophical knowledge that was not previously in demand by science and society for spiritual values and materials.

In 2015, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan took the initiative to establish an annual cultural holiday dedicated to the epic «Manas». This initiative was supported by parliament, after which the government adopted a corresponding resolution. Epic Day «Manas» in Kyrgyzstan is celebrated on December 4th.

The Day «Manas» was established in order to popularize the Kyrgyz epic «Manas» and contribute to its preservation.

The cultural encyclopedia of the Kyrgyz people – epic «Manas» represents a unique philosophical understanding of the world. It contains the spiritual capital of the Kyrgyz people, which dates back to gray antiquity, mythology and religion, morals and customs, history and philosophy, aesthetics and morality, which necessitates its special study both within the framework of the philosophical and cultural direction and historical development.
