KRSU and KTU «Manas» combined the Russian language
On May 12, 2021, as part of the Decade of Russian Language and Literature, dedicated to the Days of Slavic Literature and International Russian Language Day, a round table «Russian as a foreign language: experience in new conditions» was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, organized by the Institute of Russian Language KRSU and the Higher School of Foreign Languages of the Kyrgyz-Turkish University «Manas».
The purpose of the meeting of teachers of Russian as a foreign language of two universities, as emphasized by the moderator of the event, coordinator of the Russian language department of KTU «Manas» Svetlana Parmanasova, was to discuss current issues of teaching the Russian language in a foreign language environment, exchange scientific, methodological and organizational-practical experience, as well as consideration of the prospects for interuniversity cooperation in this area.
The round table meeting was opened by the director of the Higher School of Foreign Languages of KTU «Manas», associate professor Zhengiz Buyar. He noted that with the onset of the pandemic, the university began to search for and master effective methods of teaching foreign, in particular Russian, languages remotely. And, despite the fact that the university has managed to achieve some success in this direction, cooperation with the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in this area can open up new prospects and achieve great success.
Deputy Director of the Institute of Russian Language, Doctor of Historical Sciences Olga Sumarokova addressed the round table participants with a welcoming speech. According to her, courses in Russian as a foreign language, existing on the basis of KRSU, are celebrating their 23rd anniversary this year and during this time have become a kind of university brand. During the pandemic, the work of an RCT teacher became many times more complicated and required new approaches to organizing the educational process. The exchange of interuniversity experience in this case – one of the possibilities for finding answers to the challenges of modern education.
The round table began with a report by Aizada Sakelova, a teacher at the Russian language department of KTU «Manas», who spoke about the advanced development of university specialists – system «E-ders», which is an electronic information and educational environment in which distance learning is carried out at KTU «Manas». According to the speaker, it allows you to carefully design and plan the educational process, supported by a methodologically based and targeted sequence of educational, methodological and control materials that ensure the achievement of learning results in the format of distance learning.
Natalya Yankyn, a teacher at the Russian language department of KTU «Manas», focused her attention on the methods and forms of student control in the «E-ders» system. She accompanied her speech with presentation material, which reflected the main types of exam tasks in Russian as a foreign language, as well as ways of organizing and presenting them in electronic format. In conclusion, the speaker emphasized that the electronic information and educational environment «E-ders» allows the teacher to significantly save time on checking assignments, while simultaneously providing students with an educational result, and the teacher – positive feedback.
Anara Bayzbekova, a teacher at the Russian Language Department, spoke about educational and methodological complexes in Russian as a foreign language, developed by the teaching staff of KTU «Manas». Presenting the author's textbook «Rusça konuşuyoruz» («We speak Russian») for Turkish students, the speaker presented the history of its creation, analyzed its structure and noted the presence of a cultural and national component in it, allowing foreign students to immerse themselves in the cultural and linguistic environment.
Employees of the Institute of Russian Language KRSU also shared their experience with colleagues from KTU «Manas». A review of modern Russian textbooks on Russian as a foreign language, used in the educational process at the RKI courses of the Russian Language Institute, was presented by Olga Dugina, a methodologist of the highest category. In her report, she emphasized that humanity has not yet developed a universal textbook on RCT that would meet the needs of all teachers and students, however, a wide selection of modern high-quality educational products allows teachers to creatively combine educational materials, achieving the main goal of education – foreign students' speech.
The topic was continued by Larisa Troshchenko, head of the RKI courses at the Institute of Russian Language KRSU. In her report «Speaking as a goal of teaching foreign students of higher education: the practice of KRSU», she spoke about effective techniques for teaching speaking as a productive type of speech activity and ways to create special speech situations designed to perform two main functions: stimulating and teaching.
At the end of the round table, employees of the Russian Language Institute presented a recently published dictionary-reference book of Russian colloquial phraseology for inophones «Man. How to say it correctly», in which the author of the dictionary – teacher of courses in Russian as a foreign language at the Institute of Russian Language KRSU, Ph.D. G.M. Belaya proposed a new system of working on the assimilation of Russian phraseological units from the standpoint of modern achievements of modern linguistics.
At the end of the round table, both sides thanked each other for their informative reports and constructive exchange of views and expressed their desire to continue cooperation in the format of thematic meetings, round tables and conferences, at which scientific, methodological and practical issues will be discussed in more detail.
