Faculty of Medicine on the line!

We are learning more and more interesting facts about the participation of students of our faculty in two major outdoor events: the All-Russian Pediatric Forum and the All-Russian Interuniversity Olympiad in Pediatric Surgery.

Firstly, as it turned out, one of the participants in the scientific circle of the Department of Pediatrics, sixth-year student Dmitry Bush, successfully made a report in Moscow at a scientific and practical conference «On the attitude of students to antibacterial therapy».

Secondly, it turned out that our first-year student of the specialty pediatrics Almaz kyzy Kamila, who received a 3rd degree diploma, prepared her report not alone, but in collaboration with a student of the fraternal KSMA Akylai Toktosunova. So we must share this undeniable success with «academics»!

And finally, our team «Union of Pediatricians KRSU», although it did not take a prize among the 37 teams participating in the competition «Pediatrics Virtuoso», still received a certificate «MetGALA»for his stylish form, brilliant performance and excellent results in practical skills.

We were also very impressed by the meeting with the team of circle members of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, which at the All-Russian Olympiad in Pediatric Surgery, which brought together 18 Russian teams and one from Kyrgyzstan, earned 6 diplomas in various professional competitions and a final 3rd place.

Moreover, the competitions themselves turned out to be very original and difficult!

For example, «Examination»: Participants were asked to examine 30 photographs of patients with surgical pathology in sequence. The image was shown for 30 seconds. each, sequentially 2 times with an interval of 3 minutes. In the attached form, competition participants had to indicate what disease, in their opinion, this photograph illustrates. After which the contestants were given another 3 minutes. to finalize the results.

In the competition «Survey», competitors were required to sequentially view 30 images demonstrating the results of a particular diagnostic method, which should be interpreted, indicating the type of study and the intended diagnosis.

To win the competition «Operation», the participant had to perform local anesthesia, autopsy and drainage of the abscess, in compliance with the rules of asepsis and antisepsis. The manipulation was performed on a mock-up simulating a hip abscess. In the competition «Artist», the student had to schematically depict the pathology and the operation being performed. This competition simulated a situation where a pediatric surgeon needs to explain to the child’s parent the indications for the operation and the stages of its implementation.

Finally, in the competition «Blitz», participants were required to be able to collect anamnesis, conduct an objective examination of the patient, provide first aid, decipher an ECG, perform nursing and medical procedures, think clinically, reason creatively and make decisions quickly, and be a cultured and well-educated person. In total, participants had to go through 11 stations, at each of which they could earn from 3 to 6 points.

From the team «Optima-Optimus» the following competitors were individually distinguished:

Abdygany kyzy Uulbu, a student of the PD-4-17 group, received first place in the task «Inspection» and 3rd in the competition «Archivist»;

Meerim Batyrkulova (gr. PD-7-17) – 3rd place in the task «Conclusion»;

Suyunbek uluu Darkhan (gr. PD-11-17) – 3rd place in the task «Tests»;

Timurlan Zhabbarov (gr. PD-11-17) – 3rd in the task «Desmurgia»;

Chinar Arzymanova (gr. PD-4-17) – 3rd in the assignment «Archivist».

Thanks to them, the team « in the team competitionOptima-Optimus» and went to 3rd place. The head of the students, teacher T. Nurmukhamedov, received gratitude for his participation in the work of the Olympiad jury.

In addition, the creativity, artistry, and artistic skill of the teams were highly appreciated at this conference. And in this regard, our delegation turned out to be one of the strongest, showing a dance number and a song of its own composition, as well as playing the coma and violin. In their business card, the students demonstrated not only their own talents, but also examples of Kyrgyz folk culture, as well as national traditions, expressed in presenting our original beleks to the hosts of the Olympics.

The Olympiad ended with a gala dinner and awards ceremony for the participants.

Upon returning to Bishkek, both teams were accepted and appreciated by the administration.
