Youth online campaign «Reading Pushkin together» in Kyrgyzstan
Youth poetry online event «Reading Pushkin together», organized by the Institute of Russian Language named after. A.O. Orusbaev Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. First President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin, took place from April 27 to June 6, 2022 and was timed to coincide with International Russian Language Day, widely celebrated annually around the world.
The goals and objectives of the online poetry marathon were to support interest among young people in learning the Russian language, develop reader taste and horizons, and improve expressive reading skills. Participants in the online campaign were invited to submit videos reading the works of A.S. Pushkin – poems, excerpts from poems or stories. Video performances during the online poetry marathon were published on the Facebook and Instagram pages of the Russian Language Institute. A.O. Orusbaeva KRSU.
More than 160 students of grades 5-11 of secondary schools with Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Russian languages of instruction from the cities of Bishkek, Osh, Naryn, Kara-Balta, Shopokov, Jalal-Abad, Tash-Kumyr, Kadamzhay, Kyzyl-Kiya, Razzakov, Kara-Suu, villages of Chui, Issyk-Kul, Osh, Jalal-Abad, Batken, Naryn, Talas regions.
Among the most popular works among young people were a novel in verse «Eugene Onegin», a poem «Ruslan and Lyudmila», «The Tale of Tsar Saltan», poems «Winter Morning», «I remember a wonderful moment...», «Flower». In addition to the works included in the curriculum for Russian literature, schoolchildren recited works from the cycles «Little Tragedies», «Belkin's Stories», accompanying the video performances with musical works, slide compositions and film fragments.
Monitoring of reader interests carried out during the event showed that the work of the great classic, as before, deeply worries young people.
When asked what is unique about Pushkin’s poems and prose, the participants of the online marathon answered:
«The accuracy, accuracy, and freshness of A.S.’s poetic word are admirable. Pushkin, concentration of thoughts and feelings, amazing variety of intonations», – wrote Salieva Meerimai (10th grade, secondary school №2nd name of the 50th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan, Kyzyl-Kyya).
«There were many brilliant people in the history of mankind, but there were probably no such geniuses as Pushkin. He is a unique genius who has brought so many talents to his heart», – she noted Nurmambekova Medina (10th grade, secondary school №7 Kozhobeka Kuzembaeva, Tash-Kumyr).
«The uniqueness of A.S.’s work. Pushkin is that the poet had a brilliant command of the language. He wrote easily, naturally, beautifully and clearly, ridding the language of unnecessary words. That is why Pushkin is considered the creator of the Russian literary language», – says Kholmatova Sogdiana (7th grade, secondary school №1st named after N. Ostrovsky, Tash-Kumyr).
«When you read Pushkin, your soul becomes light and light. His words, like drops of dew, are clean and transparent», – made a comparison Ablakulova Asina (6th grade, boarding school №1, Razzakov).
«Pushkin’s poems and fairy tales are loved by adults and children. There is so much fantasy in fairy tales, and also a lot of adventure and magic», – Maxim Seifulin (5th grade, ShG GPN №4, Bishkek) shared his impression.
To answer another question: why the works of A.S. Pushkin is interesting to the modern young reader – the guys wrote:
«Even though more than 200 years have passed, concepts such as devotion, patriotism, heroism, love remain eternal, they are still relevant today. Many can find answers to their questions on the pages of Pushkin’s works», – noted Mirzaeva Chinara (9th grade, ShG№38 named after Barpa Alykulov, Osh).
«Pushkin – our teacher. The poet teaches us patriotism, nobility, and the value of spiritual things. A young reader can find a parallel between the characters in the works and himself, compare himself with them. That’s probably why we like reading Pushkin», – reflects Daria Sherova (9th grade, LLC «School» Talent», Bishkek).
«Pushkin’s works, which accompany us throughout our lives, unite people of all ages, religions, and nationalities. The great Russian poet has his admirers in almost all corners of the planet, his works have been translated into hundreds of languages of the world», – emphasized Salieva Zhumayida (8th grade, secondary school №1st named after N. Ostrovsky, Tash-Kumyr).
«Works by A.S. Pushkin will never be forgotten, they will always be translated and read. They teach us what a person should be», – concluded Egamkulova Jasmina (8th grade, boarding school №11th named after V.V. Tereshkova, Osh).
The jury of the online poetry event «Reading Pushkin together» noted that the works sent by children from different regions of the republic were completed with great creative enthusiasm. All participants of the action tried to express their love for the work of the great poet, paying grateful respect to A.S. Pushkin, whose immortal poetic creations inspire readers of different generations around the world today.
The Institute of Russian Language KRSU addresses its sincere gratitude to the young participants of the online campaign, as well as to the teachers of Russian language and literature who oversaw the preparation of creative works.
