Nexus game at the Department of Water Resources and Engineering Disciplines KRSU

The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University hosted a Nexus game held at the Department of Water Resources and Engineering Disciplines. This time the event focused on the transfer of knowledge by fourth-year students of the direction "Integrated Use and Protection of Water Resources" (KIOVR) to their young colleagues of the second and third years.

Theme of the game – "Achieving agreements in the field of distribution and use of water resources between countries.". Students mastered the skills of water resource management in the context of climate change, which is extremely relevant in the modern world.

By splitting into two teams, the participants took on the roles of ministers of the countries upstream and downstream of the river. They learned to manage water, energy and food resources while meeting the needs of the population in a balanced manner and making agreed decisions with neighboring countries. The game produced an understanding of the interdependence of different sectors such as water, energy and food, and produced fruitful negotiations.

The Nexus simulation, developed by the Center for Systems Solutions together with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis and the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative, continues to develop successfully in the Central Asian region.
