They covered their lives with themselves
A photo exhibition opened at the KRSU television center «They covered their lives». The exhibition, dedicated to the 76th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Battle of Fascism and the 80th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, is based on documentary materials revealing the participation of Kyrgyz border guards in the defeat of Nazi Germany and its allies.
Its author – Vice-Rector for Information and Public Relations, Candidate of Historical Sciences Leonid Sumarokov – considers the exhibition a fragment of a book being prepared for publication «Every heart beat like Brest!». The new publication will present unknown historical facts of the operational and official activities of the Kyrgyz Border District during the war and new evidence of the patriotism of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, examples of their courage and perseverance, which will serve as a source of filling the space of historical memory and countering attempts to falsify the history of the Second World War.
