Against falsifiers of history
On June 10, Vice-Rector of KRSU Leonid Sumarokov took part in the International Online Teleconference: «Problems of falsification of history at the present stage: causes, mechanisms, tools and political consequences».
One of the main events of the past for post-Soviet states was the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, which the Soviet people waged against Nazi Germany and its allies. It was the USSR that played a decisive role in the outcome of World War II. However, in recent decades, individual forces, pursuing the goal of limiting the influence of certain geopolitical players on world processes, destroying the desire of the former allied states for unity and coordinated policies, as well as undermining the ideological foundations of these countries, have been making persistent attempts to rewrite history and reduce the contribution of the Soviet Union to the victory over fascism.
Participants in the discussion organized by the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education «Kemerovo State Medical University» (Kemerovo), the Ural Association «Center for Ethno-Confessional Research, Prevention of Extremism and Countering the Ideology of Terrorism» (Ekaterinburg) and the Club of Regional Experts of Kyrgyzstan «Pikir» (Bishkek) discussed the causes, scale and socio-political consequences of deliberate distortion of historical facts aimed at revising the results of major historical events and rehabilitating destructive ideologies, criminal states and their leaders.
In his speech, L. Sumarokov noted that it is necessary to counteract numerous attempts to falsify the history of the Great Patriotic War, strengthen the spiritual and moral unity of the peoples of the post-Soviet space and all progressive forces fighting the glorification of Nazism and the spread of neo-Nazism, and also take measures to preserve the memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the battle with fascism.
