RSUH and KRSU began preparations for the Year of the Russian Language
November 18-19 at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the first President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin, with the participation of the Russian State Humanitarian University (RGGU), held the Days of Russian Language and Culture, which launched joint events of the two universities dedicated to the Year of the Russian Language, declared in the CIS in 2023. These days, a delegation from the Russian State University for the Humanities was on a business visit to KRSU.
The Days of Russian Language and Culture at KRSU began solemnly. As expected in such cases, speeches were made by representatives of two universities – rector of KRSU Vladimir Nifadiev and professor of the Russian State University for the Humanities Igor Sharonov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Kyrgyz Republic Viktor Nefedov. The official words were complemented by heartfelt poetic lines of the Kyrgyz poet Urmat Kenzhisariev, read by the poetess Olga Chuikova and conveying the attitude of thousands of Kyrgyzstanis towards the Motherland of Alexander Pushkin.
Following the declaration of love for Russia, a Russian folk song performed by the laureate of international competitions, soloist of the Belgorod Philharmonic Sergei Starozhilov, an offering by girls in Russian and Kyrgyz national costumes to guests from the Russian capital of the Boorsoks left no one in doubt – there will be a holiday of the Russian language and culture.
Next, the event participants were presented with a photo exhibition «Russia – Kyrgyzstan: Milestones of Friendship and Cooperation», prepared by the Russian State University for the Humanities, and the exhibition KRSU – «History of Russian education in Kyrgyzstan (1867-1917)», which summarized the experience of Russians in building on the territory of Kyrgyzstan Russian educational system.
Vice-Rector of KRSU Leonid Sumarokov, revealing the idea of holding Days of Russian Language and Culture in KRSU, emphasized: «The question is not only about the importance of the Russian language as a language of interethnic relations and connections, but also as a language of science and educational activity. Our Russian colleagues are ready to share with us their experience, their best practices».
Thanks to bright performances in front of the teaching staff, KRSU students, leading teachers of the Russian State University for the Humanities, who are also luminaries of Russian philological science, the Days of Russian Language and Culture at KRSU took place!
Maxim Krongauz, Igor Sharonov, Natalya Bragina, Viktor Korchinsky, Natalya Guryeva, Lyudmila Batova, Natalya Berezina, in an open dialogue with colleagues from the Slavic University, spoke about changes in the modern Russian language and trends in Russian speech etiquette, discussed new speech genres on the Internet, held master classes on working with Russian scientific and educational online databases, shared their experience of a new interpretation of Russian classics by presenting modules «Russian literature in modern culture» and «Visual arts in modern Russian culture».
An important event of the Days of Russian Language and Culture was the visit of the delegation of the Russian State University for the Humanities to the memorial house-museum of the Kyrgyz and Russian master of words Chingiz Aitmatov. Here, new discoveries awaited eminent teachers and scientists, which will be taken into account when developing plans for holding the Year of the Russian Language in the CIS.
As Natalya Bragina, a professor at the Russian State University for the Humanities, noted, Kyrgyzstan has a wealth of experience in bilingualism, and Aitmatov, as its central figure, included in the list of so-called unprecedented names, which are used to build milestones in the development of national cultures, is an example of the development of this practice. The writer’s legacy is precisely the basis from which the point of growth begins in understanding how to teach the first, second, third languages, what relationships they should be in, what is on the agenda in the context of globalization.
Russian scientists drew attention to the unique experience of bilingualism accumulated in Kyrgyzstan, which is the property of the country. In this regard, the problem of determining the ways of development of the native language – Kyrgyz comes to the fore. Therefore, the participants of the Days of Russian Language and Culture in KRSU agreed that the upcoming Year of the Russian Language in the CIS should become a holiday of the languages of all peoples of the Commonwealth.
The last aspect was pointed out by the International Round Table held within the framework of the Days of Russian Language and Culture at KRSU «Problems and prospects for teaching Russian language and literature at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University and other universities in Kyrgyzstan». The scientific forum was attended by 8 universities in Kyrgyzstan, teachers from schools in the republic and the public.
Leading Kyrgyz philologists – Zamira Derbisheva, Osmonakun Ibraimov, Kenzhe Bekturova, Gulzhigit Soronkulov, Svetlana Elebesova, Bakhtiyar Koichuev joined the dialogue with Russian colleagues. The conversation turned out to be frank.
Conclusion of the discussion – there is an order in Kyrgyz society for the Russian language. «Ordinary people want – noted Almira Gatina, head of the Russian language department at KRSU, – for their children to be on the front line». At the forefront of knowledge!
The Days of Russian Language and Culture ended with a concert by the Russian Song Ensemble «Souvenir», which these days celebrates the fifteenth anniversary of its creation. The song performed at the concert, which contains the words: «Russia and Kyrgyzstan – sister and brother», became the anthem of the past Days of Russian Language and Culture at KRSU.
