Sergey Volkov made important announcements about the development of KRSU
On the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, the rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Sergei Volkov gave an exclusive comment to Sputnik Kyrgyzstan and spoke about the university’s plans for the coming years.
According to the rector, one of the key issues will soon be resolved — the allocation of land for the construction of a new campus. «It will be an eco-friendly neighborhood and the campus will effectively be a city within a city. The first square meters of the campus are planned to be commissioned in 2028», — Volkov noted.
It is planned to involve student construction teams, including from Russia and other countries, in the construction of the campus. Thus, the project will not only be educational and infrastructural, but also unite students from different countries.
Sergey Volkov also reported that KRSU will soon have a kindergarten for employees and students with families.
The rector paid special attention to the topic of the Russian language. He emphasized that the Russian language today is the language of engineers and science, an important tool of international communication.
The university has a Russian Language Institute, which prepares textbooks and publishes books.
The rector also touched upon the issue of demand for study programs training. For some specialties the competition reaches 26 people per place, while for others — it is significantly less. «We are carefully analyzing the situation to understand which areas should be preserved and which —transformed», he noted.
