KRSU students spoke about the feat of the Kyrgyzstanis in the Battle of Stalingrad
Students of the Faculty of Humanities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Russia in the 21st century: the Great Patriotic War and historical memory. Battle of Stalingrad and its strategic importance for the outcome of World War II». The scientific forum, held on December 14-15, was organized by the Commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the study of the scientific heritage of outstanding scientists.
During the work of the section «Kyrgyz SSR in the Battle of Stalingrad 1942-1943», held as part of a conference at the university, KRSU students revealed unknown pages of the feat of the Kyrgyzstanis accomplished in the battle for Stalingrad. Maria Semenova and Zhanara Kaparbekova presented the results of a survey they conducted among students on the eve of the conference. The survey showed that among young people they know about the Battle of Stalingrad, but preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War.
A sense of pride in their great ancestors was present in the speeches of the conference participants – students Elizaveta Katunina, Irina Makarenko, Elina Asamedinova, Maria Malsagova, Daria Miyusova, Eleonora Golovnina, Roman Solovey, Azamat Khalilov, Talent of Kyzy Aidan, Liya Dyadkina Aseme Asankanova, Gulsara Adanbaeva. They spoke about the heroic actions of Kyrgyzstanis at the front and in the rear, focusing on the personal stories of front-line soldiers.
As Leonid Sumarokov, moderator of the section, vice-rector for information and public relations of KRSU, noted, many names of Kyrgyz heroes who participated in the Battle of Stalingrad still remain unknown. It is precisely this circumstance, as well as the fact that the memory of past days is subject to erasure without constant, systematic work to fill it with historical facts. This is exactly what falsifiers of the history of the Great Patriotic War use today. Therefore, by taking part in the RAS conference, students made their own contribution to preserving the historical memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the battle against fascism.
