Medical students KRSU took part in the expedition to Kumtor
As you know, women's health and pathologies differ significantly from men's. There is also a lot of uncertaintyenity regarding women's susceptibility to high mountain conditions and the development of acute mountain sickness.
It is no coincidence and not for the first time that these issues became the subject of study by employees of the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy named after. Academician M. Mirrakhimov, led by Professor T. Sooronbaev and their colleagues from Zurich University Hospital (Switzerland).
From October 2 to October 6, they organized Kumtor at the high mountain mine international research expedition together with professors Konrad E. Bloch, Franz Eberli, Michael Furian et al. In addition, 6th year students of the Faculty of Medicine KRSU took an active part in it Zhamilya Zhumadilova, Gulshan Askarova, Violetta Taradina and Angelina Salamatina.
This expedition became a unique site where female students independently conducted research, including a full clinical examination of the experiment participants and assessment of the symptoms of acute mountain sickness using modern scalesLake Louise, Karolinska Sleepiness Scale, etc.), electrocardiography with data interpretation, night pulse oximetry, and most importantly – measurement of female hormones using modern portable devices.
Lectures and practical classes were also held in the form of discussions and analysis of clinical cases in high mountain medicine.
Participation in the expedition together with our and foreign specialists undoubtedly expanded the professional horizons and practical skills of future doctors.
