The International Historical School – the first outside the Russian Federation opened at KRSU
October 9 in the large assembly hall of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. B. Yeltsin, the grand opening of the International Historical School «Common History as a resource for the joint development of Russia and the CIS member countries» took place.
The organizers of the School, which is being held outside the Russian Federation for the first time, were the Russian Historical Society, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and the State Academic University of Humanities.
Students and graduate students representing 26 universities in Armenia, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan take part in the work of the School.
In his video message, President of the State Autonomous Institution, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Chubaryan greeted the participants, noting that the period of history associated with the presence of the peoples of the CIS countries within the Soviet Union today attracts special interest from scientists and researchers.
–It is important that the School not only pays attention to different points of view of the general history of our countries, but also promotes the exchange of views on the stated topic between participants, young scientists, and experts. History, which unites us all, is of greater importance for the economy, culture, and formation of sovereign states.
In conclusion, A. Chubaryan expressed the hope that KRSU will become a platform for holding various events similar to the historical school, designed to develop Russian-Kyrgyz relations and cooperation between the CIS countries.
Acting Rector of KRSU Denis Fomin-Nilov in his speech noted the importance of preserving historical memory.
– A person who does not remember and does not know his roots becomes extremely unstable. It should be remembered that a tree without a root system falls and dies. It is impossible to grow without a foundation and solid soil. Historical memory – this is the very foundation, solid soil and roots. The task of historical Schools, first of all, is to help formulate an understanding of historical science and the foundations of historical knowledge. The world, the existing reality is multi-colored and diverse. Just like history. The School's lecturers will show how diverse and multi-colored our common history is. Only this approach will allow us to build a constructive dialogue and build the future together.
The work of the School will be organized according to several thematic tracks: «Culture», «Knowledge», «Connections», «Memory». For each track, an intensive educational program, round tables and discussions with leading Russian and Kyrgyz scientists, and a project competition are planned.
The Historical School will end on October 15th.
