24 diplomas «Zverev readings» – for KRSU students!

Well, our «Slavs» student team, consisting of Azira Usenova, Polina Mikhalskaya, Kutgelda Samatov, Zhakshylyk Beksultanov, Bekzat Abdikadyrov, Mukhamedzhon Rakhmanjanov, Rakhimdzhan uulu Munarbek and senior lecturer of the Department of Pediatric Surgery of the KRSU Medical Faculty Aigerim Tairova, returned to their native land from their Ural places.

All of them, active participants in the scientific circle of this department (Head – Associate Professor, Honorary Professor of KRSU Kalybek Mykyev), took part in the VI «Zverev Readings» − annual winter school for future pediatric surgeons, which is held at the Ural State Medical University in honor of one of its rectors, the famous Soviet surgeon Alexei Zverev.

This trip was not the debut for our students. Before that, they had already shown themselves worthy four times in these professional competitions, which, we note, acquired international status precisely from the moment the team from Kyrgyzstan arrived there in 2016. So this time, courageously overcoming (!) by bus a long way through the frozen Kazakh steppes and «hot» Tyumen, the guys literally «from wheels» went to the Yekaterinburg «Ordo», charming the assembled audience with their witty «business card».

By the way, the VI Winter School was held from January 31 to February 2 at the recreation center «Khrustalnaya», near Yekaterinburg, bringing together more than 120 people – students, residents, graduate students and teachers from medical universities in Russia (Ural State Medical University, Russian National Research Medical University named after. N.I. Pirogov, Tyumen, Kuban, South Ural Medical Universities, as well as the Morozov City Children's Clinical Hospital of Moscow) and foreign countries (Donetsk State Medical University, Ukraine), Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (Bishkek), North Kazakhstan Medical University (Aktyubinsk).

Returning to the beginning of the beginning – meeting the teams, we note that in our competition business card there was a place for artistry, jokes, pathos, and the presentation of national souvenirs to the hosts of the event.

But the main tests awaited the participants ahead. These are various competitions, in which participants from different universities were included in teams in a random order, which was not done by chance. As Natalya Tsap, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at UMMU, noted, «Winter School participants will see that the development of communication skills will be of great importance in their future professional activities». Therefore, in the Winter School competitions, participants from all universities «mixed» by drawing lots: the team could have one participant each from Moscow, Kazakhstan, Tyumen, Kyrgyzstan, etc. Moreover, they had to quickly find a common language and learn to work together.

And now about the practical part of the School, consisting of the following competitions:
– ski competition: at a distance of 1 kilometer, participants provided medical assistance to «the victim» – immobilization of a broken limb, application of a hemostatic tourniquet and transportation of «the victim» with drag;
– competition «Stationary»: diagnosis (fracture type determination), immobilization, appendectomy on an endoscopic machine, wound suturing;
the competition «Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation» was conducted on exercise mannequins, with automatic computer imaging to see who provided care correctly;
– competition «Saving a drowning man», held in a winter pool where students participated collectively and individually.

The theoretical part «Zverev's readings» was a conference with presentations by participants and a lecture course given by experienced specialists. From our university, 6th year students of the specialty «Pediatrics» Azira Usenova (2nd degree diploma) and Polina Mikhalskaya (3rd degree diploma) made scientific presentations.

Based on the results of practical competitions, the KRSU team received 24 diplomas in various categories. Of these, 1st degree diplomas – 6, 2nd – 11, 3rd – 7.

The holders of 1st degree diplomas were: Polina Mikhalskaya, Kutgeldy Samatov, Zhakshylyk Beksultanov, 2nd degree – Polina Mikhalskaya, Azira Usenova, Bekzat Abdikadyrov, Mukhamedzhon Rakhmondzhanov, Kutgeldy Samatov, and 3rd – Rakhimdzhan uulu Munarbek, Kutgeldy Samatov, Polina Mikhalskaya and Zhakshylyk Beksultanov. And, of course, the whole team was especially happy about the 1st degree Diploma for the best business card.

A pleasant surprise for our guys, representatives of the interstate university named after the First President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin, was the free visit to the Yekaterinburg Yeltsin Center organized by the rector of the Ural State Medical University, Professor Olga Kovtun.

School participants brought with them to Bishkek, in addition to diplomas and gifts, the text of a cooperation agreement between USMU and KRSU, as well as a letter of gratitude addressed to the rector of KRSU Vladimir Nifadiev.
