December 3 – Day of the Unknown Soldier

On December 3, the Day of the Unknown Soldier, Bishkek residents paid tribute to the memory of Russian and Soviet soldiers who died in hostilities, flowers were laid at the monument to Major General Ivan Panfilov.

Director of the Youth Center for Culture and Creativity of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Galina Ketova and university students joined the memorial event. The guys read poems about the war and Maysalbek’s monologue from the story by Ch. Aitmatova «Mother Field».

Date 3 December chosen due to the fact that on this day in 1966, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the defeat of German troops near Moscow, the ashes of the unknown soldier were solemnly buried near the walls of the Moscow Kremlin in the Alexander Garden. Today, the memorial at the Kremlin wall has become a symbolic place of worship for all those who do not know how his relatives and friends died and where they are buried. But the Day of the Unknown Soldier – is not only a day of remembrance for those killed during the Great Patriotic War, but also a date that unites the memory of all those killed and missing during wars and military conflicts.
