8 September — International Day of Solidarity for Journalists

8 september 2025

On September 8, the world celebrates International Day of Solidarity for Journalists — a date designed to remind us of the importance of a profession that guards society’s right to truth every day.

Journalists work in a variety of conditions: in editorial offices and hot spots, in studios and on city streets. Their mission is — to communicate information objectively and honestly, protect freedom of speech and ensure open dialogue in society.

At the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, special attention is paid to training future specialists in this field. Student journalists of KRSU are actively involved in professional activities already during their studies: they write materials, prepare interviews, create media projects. Their energy, desire for objectivity and desire to work with important topics inspire teachers and colleagues.

On this day, the university also remembers those who sacrificed their lives for the right of society to know the truth. Their courage — a reminder of how much professional solidarity, support and unity are needed in the journalistic community.

Congratulations to all representatives of the profession on International Journalists' Day of Solidarity! May your words always resonate, and may your work receive well-deserved recognition.
