80 years ago the siege of Leningrad was broken

On January 18, a requiem meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of breaking the siege of Leningrad was held in Bishkek’s Victory Park named after Dair Asanov.

KRSU students, townspeople, schoolchildren, Leningrad siege survivors, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of the Russian Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic and many others came to remember and pay tribute to the memory of the dead.

As noted, this day is very important for all of us. Because we need to preserve the memory of the past and honor those who are no longer around. After all, it was our country that received the residents of besieged Leningrad. By the way, during the blockade, 16 thousand people were evacuated to Kyrgyzstan, including 3.5 thousand children. Today a performance by schoolchildren and students was organized. An action «Siege Regiment» also took place, during which the participants of the action marched with portraits of the deceased siege survivors of Leningrad around the memorial. At the end of the requiem meeting, participants laid flowers at the monument.

The siege of Leningrad lasted 872 days – from September 8, 1941 to January 27, 1944. The exact number of victims is unknown.
