Every heart beat like Brest!
On June 22, Vice-Rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, representative of the Russian Military Historical Society Leonid Sumarokov presented the book «Every heart beat like Brest!».
In a new scientific work, the scientist presented an analysis of the participation of Kyrgyz border guards in the Great Patriotic War. The book, based on documentary evidence, contains memoirs of participants in border battles on the western border of the USSR on June 22, 1941, lists of Kyrgyz soldiers who fought in the Brest Fortress.
Readers will be especially interested in unknown pages of operational and official activities of the Kyrgyz Border District during wartime. As the book tells, the situation on the borders of the Tien Shan in 1941-1945 was tense. During this period, border guards had to repeatedly suppress attacks by gangs, which were sometimes led by Afghan emissaries. Facts of detention of German spies have been noted. Against this background, the author provides new evidence of the patriotism of the Soviet people and the heroic actions of the border guards in the fight against fascism. They will become a source of filling the space of historical memory of the feat of the generation of winners and countering attempts to falsify the history of the Second World War. The book convincingly proves that the hearts of Kyrgyzstanis during the Great Patriotic War beat in the same rhythm with the entire Soviet country, they fought like Brest!
The next scientific work of Leonid Sumarokov was presented to the participants of the International Scientific and Practical Conference – XXIX Moses Readings «Russia in the 21st Century: The Great Patriotic War and Historical Memory».
The new edition is part of the author's book series dedicated to the participation of Kyrgyzstanis in the Great Patriotic War. It was preceded by the books «Stalingrad Diary of Kyrgyzstan» (co-authored with Olga Sumarokova) and «Front Roads of People's Deputies». As the author reported, scientific work «Every heart beat like Brest!» will be sent to all border outposts of the Kyrgyz Republic.
