Flowers and congratulations on March 8th from volunteers!

On 6 March 2020, volunteers from Bishkek presented tulips to women at the Chingiz Aitmatov monument and congratulated them on International Women's Day as part of the #MakeHerSmile campaign, creating a spring mood in cold weather.

For the fourth year in a row, volunteers from 35 countries present flowers, gifts and souvenirs and express gratitude to the fair sex.

Action #MakeHerSmile was first launched in 2017 on the initiative of future participants of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students, in which delegates from Kyrgyzstan also took part. Young people from all over the world published stories related to congratulating women, girls, mothers, loved ones and relatives with the hashtag #MakeHerSmile. On social networks, the action reached more than 300 thousand people. In 2018, it was continued by members of the Future Team movement: they not only congratulated women online, but also presented bouquets and gifts on the central streets and squares of various cities around the world.

In Kyrgyzstan, the #MakeHerSmile action took place for the second time. Next year, volunteers plan to hold it in other cities of the country.

Members of Future Team Kyrgyzstan and students of KRSU took part in the action. Over 200 women received congratulations and pleasant gifts.

For many women, receiving flowers from strangers was unexpected and unusual. Not so often, especially at the monument to Chingiz Aitmatov, girls receive flowers simply for having them. «When we started giving women and girls flowers on public transport, everyone perked up and began to thank us for the pleasant surprise," noted Ruslan Gaidarov, coordinator of the action in Kyrgyzstan.
