Experts and students discussed Omar Khayyam's contribution to world culture
On April 14, the Centers for German Studies, Iranian Studies and Turkology of the FMO KRSU held a round table on the topic: «Omar Khayyam and his contribution to world culture».
The event, moderated by the director of the Center for German Studies KRSU A. Boy, was attended by the director of the Iranian cultural representative office in Bishkek, Abuzar Tugani, director of the Turkish educational center TTEOMER Mustafa Bulut, dean of the FMO A. Kulikovsky, associate professor M. Mukharova, director of the Center for Iranian Studies M. Mamedova, director of the Center for Turkology E. Osmonova, teachers and students of KRSU.
At the round table, participants examined various aspects of O. Khayyam’s creative and scientific activities.
The name of Omar Khayyam – the great Persian poet, philosopher and mathematician – is widely known in all countries of the world, and his works have been translated into 110 languages.
Nowadays, Omar Khayyam is better known as an author poetic aphorisms (rubai (), in which he expressed his innermost thoughts about life, about man, about the universe in the genres of hamriyat and zuhdiyat. Among the researchers of O.'s work. Khayyama such outstanding orientalists as Valentin Zhukovsky Eugene Bertels, Muhammad-Ali Furugi, Swami Govinda Tirtha, Arthur Christensen, Friedrich Rosen, Magomed-Nuri Osmanov and Rustam Aliyev.
Rubai O. Khayyam has been translated at various times by Edward Fitzgerald, Friedrich Rückert, Garsen de Tassi, Hermann Plisetsky, Re Mori, Francesco Gabrieli, Ahmed Rami, Kerson Huang and many others.
