The KRSU team took 2nd place at the International Surgery Olympiad in Astana!
On November 21–22, the International Student Olympiad in Surgery, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug «Astana Medical University», took place in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. Teams from leading universities in Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia took part in this large-scale event. The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was worthily represented by the team of the Department of Hospital Surgery «Imperium» under the leadership of senior teacher R.I. Marshankulov. and teacher Rakhimova F.S.
Team composition included 3–6 year students of specialties «General Medicine» and «Pediatrics»: Akylbekov Khabizhan, Ashirbaeva Aruuke Nurlanovna, Akhmadaliev Abboszhan, Aibashov Kubanychbek, Akhmatov Daniyar, Abyltaeva Aidana, Begaliev Bekzhan, Vasilenko Adelia, Ismailov Emil, Kazymbek Aidina, Kalieva Kanyshay, Kubanychbekova Eliada, Kulov Adilbek, Nasyrova Rakhima, Nurlanbek kyzy Zhanylmyrza, Khakimzhanov Khozhiakbar, Tazhibaeva Begayim, Tankova Anastasia.
Olympiad program:
Participants demonstrated proficiency in various surgical areas:
- Plastic surgery: excision of neoplasms, reconstruction of the nipple-areolar complex.
- Cardiac surgery: conducting Ross's operation.
- Neurosurgery: craniectomy, reconstructive surgery.
- Thoracic surgery: tracheal resection with plastic surgery.
- Transplantology: kidney transplant.
- Abdominal surgery: general and colorectal surgery.
- Obstetrics and gynecology: laparoscopic myomectomy.
- Traumatology and orthopedics: suture of tendon, desmurgia.
- Emergency care: tracheal intubation.
The work of the participants was assessed by an authoritative jury of leading surgeons from Kazakhstan and Russia.
