A strong alliance
On March 4, the First Symposium of University Rectors of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held online.
The event was held with the participation of the ECO Secretary General, Dr. Hadi Soleymanpour, rectors of leading universities in Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The latter was represented by the rector of KRSU named after B. Yeltsin, academician V. Nifadiev and the rector of KNU named after Zh. Balasagyn K. Sadykov.
Participants clearly demonstrated the capabilities of their universities and emphasized the need to maximize the use of the academic potential of university staff and scientists in order to achieve peace and sustainable development in the ECO region. The symposium also discussed possible solutions to expand academic relations between universities through a new alliance – ECO University Network (ECOUN).
