The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University is carrying out the largest restructuring in recent years: from September 1, 2026, seven existing faculties will be part of new enlarged structures - three institutes and the Academy of Education. The corresponding orders were signed by the rector of the university Sergei Volkov. The Faculty of Medicine is being transformed into the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Biomedical Technologies. It will include a university clinic created on the basis of the university clinic, as well as research laboratories, including in the field of biomedical data and artificial intelligence. The Institute will also receive a Simulation Training Center and an Internship and Residency Center.Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology and the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Construction are merged into the Polytechnic Institute with three higher schools: architecture, design and construction; environmental management, mechatronics and transport; digital technologies. The structure includes a student design bureau and laboratories for robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles and cybersecurity. The humanities, law, economics faculties and the faculty of international relations form the Socio-Humanities Institute. On their basis, the Higher School of Communications and Media, the Higher School of Diplomacy and Law and the International Business School are being created. The Institute will also include the Academic Center for Kyrgyz Language and Manas Studies. The specialized departments of the Faculty of Humanities and the Institute of Russian Language are being transformed into the Academy of Education named after L.S. Vygotsky with three higher schools - Russian language and bilingual education, psychology and pedagogy, adult education. Additionally, a Cultural and Educational Center for the Russian Language and a Center for Testing Russian as a Foreign Language are being created. All new structures are the legal successors of the transformed divisions. The educational process for students will continue unchanged. The new structure will allow us to unite areas of training similar in profile, strengthen interdisciplinary interaction, increase the efficiency of educational program management and create additional opportunities for students, teachers and researchers.Particular attention will be paid to the development of practice-oriented training and the implementation of joint projects with employers and industrial partners. An important feature of the new management model will be the expansion of the powers of educational program managers (EPMs). They will be responsible not only for the implementation of curricula, but also for their constant updating, development of new competencies, interaction with employers and the professional community. This approach will make it possible to adapt the content of training more quickly to the demands of the labor market and improve the quality of graduate training.«Today we rank second among universities in Kyrgyzstan. To become a leader in the country and claim leading positions in Central Asia, the university must change. The transition to the institute model and strengthening the role of educational programs is a necessary step for the development of science, improving the quality of education and training specialists of the new generation», noted Sergei Volkov, rector of KRSU.For students, the educational process will continue as usual. All areas of training, forms of study and obligations of the university are preserved. The changes are aimed primarily at improving the quality of education, developing the scientific potential of the university and creating a modern academic environment. The transition to a new model is the next stage in the development of KRSU as one of the leading universities in Kyrgyzstan, which consistently forms a modern ecosystem of education, science and innovation and expands opportunities for training specialists of the future. The reorganization is carried out within the framework of the Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University for 2026-2030 and is aimed at improving the organizational structure, increasing the efficiency of educational, scientific, design and innovation activities, as well as closer integration of study programs training, taking into account the development priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.
