KRSU strengthens the position of the Russian language in schools in Kyrgyzstan
The student-pedagogical landing party of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B. Yeltsin visited the school № 3 cities of Kant. The KRSU delegation did not arrive at this educational institution empty-handed – the schoolchildren were given stands for the Russian language and literature classroom. A few days earlier, an identical gift was given to two Bishkek schools, three more sets of stands went to the south of Kyrgyzstan – to schools in the Osh region. This action marked start events organized in 2023 by the Slavic University on the occasion of the Year of the Russian Language in the CIS countries.
The stands were made at KRSU based on the author’s project of the Deputy Director of the Institute of Russian Language, Doctor of Historical Sciences Olga Sumarokova. According to the author, they should strengthen the educational and material base of schools and become an aid in teaching schoolchildren the Russian language. Teachers and school management in Kyrgyzstan, covered by the unique KRSU campaign, have repeatedly noted that the stands for Russian language classrooms, reflecting national, cultural and historical realities, donated to them, have become a reliable help in organizing the educational process, so they give students the opportunity to take a fresh look at the discipline being studied «Russian language», and also serve as an effective tool for achieving practical, general education and development goals.
With the help of these stands, classrooms have now been equipped in schools in the Chui, Issyk-Kul, Osh regions, in the cities of Razzakov, Kadamzhai, Tash-Kumyr, Nookat, Naryn, and the village of Tapka, Issyk-Kul region. In total, 18 schools in the Kyrgyz Republic were covered during the implementation of the project. Stands for Russian language classrooms are awarded as incentives to schools participating in competitions and olympiads organized by KRSU. Currently, about 500 schools in Kyrgyzstan are involved in events initiated by the university in the field of the Russian language. Kant school № 3 among them is particularly active.
As stated by the heads of the university, this work will continue, as it allows strengthening business ties with teachers of Russian language and literature and schoolchildren in various regions of the republic. After equipping the classrooms with stands, the university will hold an online meeting with school teachers who received a gift from KRSU. The purpose of the meeting will be – to discuss plans for joint work to improve the teaching of the Russian language.
It is worth noting that the university envoys included representatives of the medical, natural science, and economics faculties of the university. They told eleventh-graders about the conditions of study at the university, pointing out the uniqueness of the university – teaching there is conducted in Russian – the language of science and education. In addition to the stands, Kant schoolchildren received a set of books as a gift, including books published at the university from the series «Eurasians – Creators» and «Feat of Kyrgyzstan. 1941-1945». According to the organizers of the university event, these publications, like the stands, will help schoolchildren understand the meaning of the Russian language, which for Kyrgyzstan has always been the language of creation.
