Round table «Kyrgyzstan and Russia on the path to creation and justice: to the 100th anniversary of the era of change 1916-1917»
An event with exactly this name took place in November 2016 at KRSU. A whole delegation of Russian scientists, higher education administrators and publishers arrived in Bishkek.
The main news of the forum was the news that the Russian Historical Society had finally approved the opening of its branch on the basis of our university.
1916-1917 – a terrible but exciting page in the history of Russia and Turkestan as its constituent part. Rector of KRSU Vladimir Nifadiev tried to remember the former community, to think about why the paths of peoples diverge and converge again, in his welcoming speech. «We would not like Ukrainian events in our small country», – he stated.
Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexey Mzareulov noted that in terms of deep understanding of centuries-old history, 2016 was an extremely busy year in Kyrgyzstan, and the next 2017, when the centenary of the October Revolution will be celebrated, promises the same scale.
Representatives of the Russian delegation read out a welcoming address from Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Veniamin Kaganov, then it was the turn of the honored guests, who once represented the government of the Kyrgyz Republic, to speak.
Doctor of Political Sciences, former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov said that now Kyrgyzstan faces the issue of preserving statehood and the republic will be able to resolve it successfully only with active cooperation with Russia. This, in his opinion, requires strengthening direct ties between the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan.
Another ex-minister, and now a professor at the Kyrgyz National University named after Zh. Balasagyn, Zhumakadyr Akeneev, analyzed the economic interaction of countries within the Eurasian Economic Union, emphasizing the positive dynamics of the process.
Toktobek Ryskulov, head of the Department of History of Kyrgyzstan and Foreign East at the K. Karasaev Bishkek Humanitarian University, said: «The Bolsheviks gave an alternative option for interaction between peoples – interactions on equal terms». Today, T. Ryskulov noted, historical memory «is being shortened», but even despite this, the people of Kyrgyzstan are eternally grateful to the Great October Socialist Revolution.
The host of the round table, military historian Leonid Sumarokov, reminded the audience that Kyrgyzstan — is the only post-Soviet republic officially celebrating November 7th.
Then an exchange of books published in Russia and Kyrgyzstan took place. Historian and editor-in-chief of the publishing group «Drofa» Ruslan Gagkuev reported that at the last meeting of the Russian Historical Society, where he had the opportunity to attend, the opening of a branch of the Society was approved on the basis of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
At the end of the program, the Russian guests visited the State Memorial House-Museum of M.V. Frunze in Bishkek and got acquainted with the work of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Kyrgyz Republic.
As part of the round table, the opening of a photo exhibition «Great October of Kyrgyzstan» was also held, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the creation of the Kyrgyz SSR and reflecting the historical milestones of the socio-economic and cultural prosperity of Soviet Kyrgyzstan.
