A meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation was held in Bishkek.

The parties discussed key areas of interaction in the field of education, science and youth policy, paying special attention to the modernization of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University and the implementation of joint projects.

The meeting of the commission was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk and Head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev.

During the meeting, current issues of humanitarian cooperation were discussed, including the development of educational programs, joint scientific projects and initiatives among young people.

«KRSU has enormous potential for development and can become one of the leading universities not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in the entire educational space of Central Asia», — emphasized Alexey Overchuk.

He noted that an important area of cooperation will be the modernization of KRSU, including the construction of a new campus, as well as the implementation of projects to create nine schools in Kyrgyzstan with the support of Russian departments.

Continuing the work of the commission, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova held a meeting with students of KRSU. Meeting format — open dialogue, which was attended by activists of youth movements, student clubs, students of the KRSU school and young teachers.

Students spoke about their projects — from initiatives for the 80th anniversary of the Victory and participation in the Association of Sports Clubs of Russia to plans to organize the IV Russian-Kyrgyz Media Forum and summer student programs.

«I would like to thank you for your active civic position, for the initiatives that you are implementing while still a student. KRSU today —this is a platform where ideas are born that are significant not only for the university, but also for all humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan», — noted Olga Petrova.

According to her, the university actively participates in programs of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, including projects on educational work and youth tourism:

«Your initiatives show how the youth of Kyrgyzstan and Russia together create a space of opportunity where leaders and professionals are born».

Rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov emphasized that the focus of the university’s attention remains on the student:

«We are convinced that the student — is the main person at the university. All transformations are aimed at ensuring that everyone can discover their abilities and find their place in the future».

He noted that the student initiatives of KRSU are becoming an example for universities not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in other CIS countries.

Concluding the meeting, Olga Petrova thanked students and teachers for their contribution to the development of the bilateral educational space:

«We see in you a generation that is building the future of Russian-Kyrgyz relations. Your ideas and energy turn collaboration into real results».

The meeting was another confirmation of the strong ties between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in the humanitarian sphere. Cooperation in the field of education and science is reaching a new level — conditions are being created to modernize the university environment, launch joint projects and expand opportunities for students and young researchers of both countries.
