In geological practice
From June 22 to July 1, students of the specialty «Physical processes of mining and oil and gas production» underwent geological practice in the vicinity of Bishkek, in the northern foothills of the Kyrgyz ridge, visited the unique Kutessay-2 deposit in the Aktyuz-Boorda ore region and the UOK «Zhashtyk» – health camp in the village of Bulan-Sogotu (Issyk-Kul region).
The main goal of the practice is – consolidation of theoretical knowledge in the course «Geology», familiarization of students with the basic methods of field and geological observations, documentation of mountain outcrops and acquisition of the knowledge in geology necessary for a mining engineer.
15 students of group EFP-1-21 completed educational and geological internship.
Before the start of the practice, a meeting was held at which students were introduced to the tasks and general plan of geological practice, to the rules for safety when conducting geological field work in high mountain conditions; The safety engineer gave a general briefing.
During the internship, students became acquainted with the manifestations of exogenous and endogenous geological processes, special attention was paid to processes associated with the activity of surface and groundwater. The guys documented and sketched rock outcrops, mine workings (quarries), groundwater outlets, took samples of various rocks, measured the elements of rock occurrence with a mountain compass, determined the main properties and composition of rock-forming minerals and the main types of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks, built schematic geological sections; carried out a spline sampling of alluvial deposits of Lake Issyk-Kul; made an exit route to the unique rare earth deposit Kutessay-2, visited the Kutessay quarry Aktobe mining and processing plant, ore warehouses, dumps.
The Kutessay-2 deposit is located in the southwestern spurs of the Trans-Ili Ala-Tau, in the Tasa Keminsky ridge, 145 km east of Bishkek and is one of the most interesting and unique in its polyredmetallics objects in the Kyrgyz Republic.
After visiting the quarry, the group went along the route Ak-Tyuz – the village of Bulan-Sogotu, UOK «Zhashtyk» – in the health camp, students performed socially useful work (cleaning the territory, buildings, etc.), studied the geological activity of Lake Issyk-Kul, which occurs under the influence of waves and currents caused by two multidirectional winds (Ulan and Santash) we took samples from coastal lake sediments for further study, and also took a route along the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul to describe alluvial deposits and to wash the schlich, visited the geological museum of KSTU named after. U. Asanaliev – saw the richest collection of one of the best museums in Central Asia, where exhibitions of various minerals and rocks from the depths of Kyrgyzstan, as well as from different countries of the near and far abroad, are presented.
