In geological practice

From June 28 to July 9, students of groups EFP-1-20 and EFP-2-20 (specialty – «Physical processes of mining and oil and gas production») underwent field educational and geological practice, the purpose of which was – consolidation of theoretical knowledge in the course «Geology», familiarization of students with the basic methods of field and geological observations, documentation of mountain outcrops and acquisition of the knowledge of geology necessary for a mining engineer.

The practice, led by Professor N. Malyukova, head. laboratories «Geology» L. Zubchenko and teacher T. Ametova, passed in the vicinity of Bishkek, in the northern foothills of the Kyrgyz ridge, at the unique Kutessay-II deposit in the Aktyuz-Boorda ore region.

Students were introduced to the manifestations of exogenous and endogenous geological processes associated with the activity of surface and groundwater. The guys documented and sketched rock outcrops, mine workings (quarries), groundwater outlets, took samples of various rocks, measured the elements of rock occurrence with a geological compass, determined the main properties and composition of rock-forming minerals and the main types of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks, carried out a schlich sampling of alluvial deposits of the Kichi-Kemin River. Students also visited the Aktobe mining and processing plant.

The Kutessay-II deposit is located in the southwestern spurs of the Trans-Ili Ala-Tau, in the Tasa-Keminsky ridge, 145 km east of Bishkek and is one of the most interesting and unique in its polyredmetallics objects in the Kyrgyz Republic.
