At the International Student Olympiad in Morphology and Practical Skills

On May 18, the medical faculty of KRSU organized and held the II International Student Olympiad in Morphology and Practical Skills, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. B. Yeltsin.

KRSU hosted student teams from Tver State Medical University (Russia), Andijan State Medical Institute (Uzbekistan), as well as from Kyrgyzstan – students of KRSU, KSMA, University «Ala-Too», University «Adam» and MSHM MUK. Moreover, Kyrgyz universities fielded 2 teams each, because The Olympiad was held in 2 languages (Russian and English).

The Olympiad participants were greeted by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of KRSU, Professor S. Usmanov, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of KRSU, Associate Professor. R. Karaeva, Dean of the Higher School of Mathematics of the University «Adam», Associate Professor Ch. Mambetova.

Representatives of the cultural sector of the youth parliament of the Faculty of Medicine filled the musical breaks with their concert numbers.

The event program was interesting, rich, educational and consisted of theoretical and practical parts. The opening and theoretical part took place in the main building of the university, practice – in faculty buildings.

Students demonstrated their knowledge of anatomy in competitions «Four pictures – one word», «Connoisseurs», «Theoretical anatomy», «Correct sequence», «Entertaining anatomy», «Where is the logic?», «Clinical anatomy», «Table» (solving situational problems on an interactive table «Pirogov»).

The histological part of the Olympiad included solving situational problems and working with micropreparations.

Of particular interest to students and teachers was the competition «Emergency Care», included for the first time in the Olympiad program, in which the emergency situation with victims of road accidents was simulated as believably as possible. The wrecked car, makeup and behavior of the actors imitating the victims differed little from reality. The teams had to assess the condition of the victims based on vital signs, assess the injuries and sort people by severity of injuries and priority of assistance, provide assistance according to generally accepted algorithms and prepare the victims for transportation.

The Olympics ended with a high-speed competition «Tying surgical knots».

Teams were evaluated for each contest separately. Based on the results of the Olympiad, the jury distributed the places as follows:

Anatomical competition:

1st place – KRSU (Russian), among English speakers – MSM MUK;

2nd place – Tver State Medical University (Russian), among English speakers – KRSU (eng);

3rd place – KSMA (Russian), among English-speaking universities – «Ala-Too».

Histological competition:

1st place – KRSU (Russian), among English speakers – KRSU (eng) and MSHM MUK;

2nd place – Tver State Medical University (Russian), among English speakers – University «Ala-Too»;

3rd place – KSMA (Russian), among English speakers – KSMA (eng).
