In the footsteps of Semenov-Tyan-Shansky
An exhibition dedicated to the results of a comprehensive research expedition that took place along the main routes of Pyotr Petrovich Semenov-Tyan-Shansky, organized by the Russian Geographical Society and the P.P. Estate Museum, opened at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky (Russia).
The exhibition is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding researcher. Representatives of the Russian Geographical Society shared with visitors the results of their research and impressions of traveling to iconic places for science. As part of the event, a lecture was held for students, where the historical and scientific aspects of Pyotr Petrovich’s research, as well as the influence of his expeditions on the development of geographical science, were covered in detail.
The program of the first day ended with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Museum-Estate of P.P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky and KRSU on the eve of the scientist’s 200th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2027.
Acting Rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov noted the importance of the event, emphasizing the significance of the scientific heritage of Pyotr Semenov-Tyan-Shansky for modern research: "Opening of the exhibition and conducting an expedition along the routes of P.P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky symbolize not only respect for the great scientist, but also our commitment to the development of geographical science and strengthening international cooperation. The agreement signed today opens up new horizons for interaction and implementation of joint educational and research projects.".
The exhibition and event received a wide response among students and teachers, emphasizing the importance of preserving scientific heritage and strengthening ties with leading Russian and international scientific organizations.
