Professor KRSU participates in the discussion of climate challenges at the environmental summit in Astana

Professor of the Faculty of International Relations of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov takes part in the first Regional Environmental Summit, which opened in Astana.The event is aimed at creating a coordinated approach to sustainable development of the countries of Central Asia and brings together representatives of governments, international organizations, financial institutions, the scientific community and business.According to the organizers, the site brought together about 1,500 participants from Central Asian countries, the European Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Middle East. Key participants include leaders of states in the region, including Sadyr Zhaparov, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Emomali Rahmon and Serdar Berdimuhamedov.The main goal of the summit is to develop practical solutions to key environmental challenges in the region. At the center of the agenda are climate change, water scarcity, the introduction of «green» technologies, as well as issues of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration, including the Aral Sea.It is expected that following the meeting a joint declaration will be adopted, consolidating agreements in the field of environmental policy and sustainable development.The participation of a representative of KRSU in an event of this level reflects the university’s involvement in the international scientific and expert agenda and discussion of current issues of global and regional development.
