RUDN University and KRSU discussed the use of digital technologies in language education

Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba, together with the Higher School of Russian Language and Bilingual Education of the Academy of Education named after L. S. Vygotsky KRSU, held a meeting of the international scientific seminar «Digital strategies in language education». The event took place with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.The seminar participants considered the possibilities of using digital technologies and artificial intelligence in language teaching, and also discussed methodological and linguistic-cultural aspects of the development of new generation educational materials.The speakers were Doctor of Philology, Professor V.P. Sinyachkin, Doctor of Philology, Professor Mamed Tagaev and Candidate of Philology Ya. Kobylko.IN THE. P. Sinyachkin presented practical approaches to the use of a digital assistant in the educational process and spoke about the choice of methodological techniques when teaching Russian as a native language and as a second language for bilingual children.«Our task is — to prevent technology from imposing soulless patterns. We must force the algorithms to speak the language of our human methodology», — the professor emphasized.Mamed Tagaev paid attention to the creation of an ethno-oriented textbook of a new generation. According to him, such a publication should be based on a modern linguistic and cultural concept and combine the study of grammar, culture and text. The development of such educational materials can contribute to new field research and the further dissemination of the Russian language and culture in Central Asia.The seminar was concluded by a report by Ya. Kobylko, dedicated to the interaction of language systems during the operation of artificial intelligence and machine translation. Using specific examples, the researcher demonstrated the difficulties of modeling a living language using technical algorithms.
