Schoolchildren of Kyrgyzstan draw St. Petersburg
From September 22 to November 22, 2021, a drawing competition «St. Petersburg – the northern capital of Russia» was held online, organized by the Russian Language Institute of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the first President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin with the support of the State Institute of Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin (g. Moscow). The competition was held as part of the Youth Educational Festival dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Russian and world literature F.M. Dostoevsky.
The schoolchildren faced a difficult task – to create an artistic image of St. Petersburg, a city-museum, in the unique cultural space of which East and West, various styles of architecture and art were harmoniously combined. Throughout the 19th century, St. Petersburg was the literary capital, where A.S. lived and worked. Pushkin, A.S. Griboyedov, M.Yu. Lermontov, N.V. Gogol, F.M. Dostoevsky, I.S. Turgenev, N.A. Nekrasov and many other famous writers and poets.
Young artists from Kyrgyzstan submitted 84 drawings made in various techniques to the competition at the Russian Language Institute – graphics, watercolor, gouache, colored pencils. Students in grades 5-11 from more than 20 secondary schools with Russian and Kyrgyz languages of instruction took part in the competition (Gg. Bishkek, Osh, Kara-Balta, Shopokov, Kadamdzhai, village. Barskoon and s. Issyk-Kel, Issyk-Kul region, village. Eski-Oochu, Batken region).
In their creative works, the children expressed admiration for the beauty of the city on the Neva, depicted its squares, palaces and canals, historical and cultural monuments. Among the competition works were drawings and illustrations for the works of A.S. Pushkin and F.M. Dostoevsky, on the pages of which the image of St. Petersburg is recreated XIX centuries. The contestants sought to convey the cultural atmosphere of the northern capital of Russia, to show the unique combination of air and water space, giving St. Petersburg a special charm.
The competition jury noted the high overall level of work and the independence of drawing execution. Thanks to the rich creative imagination of the authors, the image of the northern capital of Russia is revealed in the children’s works in a multifaceted and expressive way, encouraging viewers to admire the beauty of St. Petersburg architectural ensembles again and again and feel the transparency of the city’s colors.

3rd place: Batalgazieva Erkayim (6th grade, secondary school № 24 named after. E. Mamyrkanova, p. Issyk-Kel, Tyupsky district, Issyk-Kul region)

1st place: Daria Sherova (9th grade, LLC «School» Talent», Bishkek)
2nd place: Ibraimov Artur (8th grade, ShGK № 26, Bishkek)
3rd place: Muminova Mehribon (8th grade, secondary school named after. A. Momunova p. Eski oochu, Leilek district, Batken region)

1st place: Anna Kravchuk (10th grade, UVK SHG № 38 named after R. Shukurbekova, Bishkek)
2nd place: Bayyshbekova Asel (11th grade, secondary school № 8, Bishkek)
3rd place: Nabiri Sadykova (11th grade, GUVK № 66, Bishkek)
