Dentist competitions

Our dental departments are traditionally active in conducting student educational and scientific competitions. In the current academic year, therapeutic and pediatric dentistry teams have already held their Olympiads.

Last week, they were joined by the Department of Surgical Dentistry, which organized the next Olympiad on May 26 in the lecture hall of the building №12. 6 teams took part in it, respectively, six groups of the 3rd year of the specialty «Dentistry» (44 students in total).

The program included 5 tasks, each of which was rated with a maximum of 5 points.

1. Homework. A month before the Olympics, students proposed 40 topics in the discipline they were studying, from which they had to choose one and creatively reveal it at the Olympics.
2. Testing. 15 oral surgery tests were offered.
3. Reading radiographs. Each participant was given a radiograph of the skull in direct and lateral projections, an orthopantogram or an axial projection of the skull. The completeness of the radiological diagnosis was taken into account when responding.
4. Situational tasks. Within this task, each participant chose one task or treatment regimen. The regulations were 5 minutes, during which the completeness and correctness of the problem should be assessed.
5. Toolkit. Here it was necessary to find the desired one on the table among the laid out dental instruments and explain why it is used.

In general, the Olympics were very bright, active, and interesting. Students presented their homework in the form of skits, games, and a TV show.

As a result, the winner of the Olympiad was student Nasib Salmakhanov (gr. SD 2-19), which scored the maximum number of points.

Certificates were awarded to:

For the creativity of revealing the topic – students of the 1st group S. Asylbekova, T. Madanbekov and D. Teltaev (prize – textbook on oral surgery)

For the most striking performance (humorous approach) – 2nd group (same prize);

For artistry and full disclosure of the topic – 5th group (textbook on CRP).

And finally, by decision of the department, 31 student participants who have the highest rating and successfully performed at the Olympiad were exempted with a grade «excellent» from passing the current exam in CRP.
