KRSU staff and students discussed the regional capabilities of the SCO

On December 14, a webinar was held in the KRSU conference hall «Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Regional Opportunities», in which representatives participated Iranian Allameh Tabatabaei University and Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.

The main speakers at the event were Bahram Amir Ahmadiyan, a professor at the ECO Institute (Economic Cooperation Organization) at Allama Tabatabai University, and Elena Garbuzarova, associate professor of the Department of Political Science at KRSU.

Dr. Bahram Ahmadiyyan in his message «Transport and communication potential of Iran in promoting regional cooperation within the SCO» said that Iran, as a member of the SCO, intends to expand participation and maximize its role in this organization – through the development of transport and communication potential to promote regional cooperation through projects such as «One Belt – One Road», etc.

Elena Garbuzarova's report «The role of the SCO in the process of neutralizing regional challenges and threats» was devoted to security issues within the SCO. Speaking about the fact that one of the key study programs cooperation within the SCO is maintaining regional security, E. Garbuzarova noted that much has already been done in this direction. One of the main achievements of the SCO was the creation of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS), which became a coordinating center for the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism at the regional and global levels.
