KRSU employees took part in a round table on the role of the media in the integration processes of Central Asia
A round table was held in Bishkek on the topic «The role of the media in the implementation of integration projects in Central Asia using the example of the initiative „One Belt — One Road“, organized by the Center for Expert Initiatives «Oy Ordo». The event was attended by representatives of the scientific and expert community, government agencies, the media and higher educational institutions, including employees of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
The main goal of the round table was to discuss the role of the media in the development of integration processes, strengthening humanitarian ties and creating a positive information space in the region. Participants emphasized that the media today not only transmit information, but also build trust, mutual understanding and a culture of dialogue between the countries of Central Asia.
The discussion discussed current issues of interaction between the media and the expert community, the development of analytical journalism, as well as the need to create professional communication platforms that unite specialists, researchers and business representatives.
Director of the Institute of Strategic Analysis and Forecast KRSU Almaz Nasyrov noted that the modern media space needs in-depth analytics and high-quality coverage of economic processes:
«The lack of analytical materials creates distortions in the perception of what is happening. The media should be a bridge between the scientific community, experts and society, helping people understand trends in the economy and investment. This is especially important during a period of active changes in the global and regional economies».
The expert emphasized that the role of journalism is not only to promptly cover events, but also to form a holistic picture of what is happening.
«Today it is important to create media formats where experts can share opinions, and journalists — convey them to a wide audience in an understandable and balanced form. It is the foundation of professional journalism and mature public dialogue».
Systems analyst and economist Baktybek Saipbaev in his speech focused on the fact that integration projects create opportunities for economic growth in the countries of the region:
«The development of transport and logistics corridors opens up new prospects for Kyrgyzstan — from participation in international infrastructure initiatives to strengthening export potential. Working together in the framework of regional projects enables the Central Asian countries to form a sustainable economic space».
Political scientist, ex-head of the news agency «Kabar» Kuban Taabaldin noted that the development of integration is impossible without humanitarian interaction and professional journalism:
«A true partnership between countries is formed on the basis of trust and respect. The media plays a key role in strengthening these ties, turning global initiatives into understandable and people-friendly meanings».
Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Gulya Kozhokulova emphasized the importance of the work of journalists in shaping public consciousness:
«You help people see the world objectively, understand the processes happening around them. This is a huge responsibility and contribution to the development of our society. It is important that journalists remain committed to the principles of objectivity and respect for their audiences».
As a result of the meeting, it was proposed to develop cooperation between universities, think tanks and media platforms for the exchange of knowledge, training of young journalists and the implementation of joint humanitarian and educational projects.
