KRSU students returned with awards from the «Zverev Readings»
Trips to Yekaterinburg for the student winter school «Zverev Readings», organized by the Ural Medical Academy in honor of the famous Soviet pediatric surgeon and former rector of the Sverdlovsk Medical Institute A. Zverev, have already become traditional for the Department of Pediatric Surgery KRSU.
And recently, a small girls’ squad of nine participants from the student scientific circle of pediatric surgery under the leadership of senior teacher T. Nurmukhamedov went to this interesting professional competition, which, by the way, turned out to be the seventh and dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Department of Pediatric Surgery of the Ural State Medical Academy.
As expected, the competition for future pediatric surgeons included «a business card», a demonstration of theoretical knowledge, and most importantly – practical skills, which was revealed during a number of special competitions and tasks: «Brain ring», rescue and assistance to a drowning person, emergency surgical care for children, skiing (1 km distance) and assistance «to the victim». The competition «inpatient» turned out to be more difficult, where at the first stage it was necessary to examine a sick child, make a diagnosis, provide assistance with open wounds of the skull, demonstrate skills in intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, and apply a bandage. At the second stage, it was necessary to help victims with fractures of the collarbone or hip. The third stage included a full examination and analysis of the child who was admitted with complaints of abdominal pain. Next, an appendectomy operation should have been performed on a special simulator. And finally, it was necessary to show my ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
In addition to participating in competitions, participants had the opportunity to listen to lectures by professors from different universities on current issues of pediatric surgery and present their own 5-minute report at a scientific and practical conference.
Sports and entertainment events, communication with nature, with each other, and acquaintance with the capital of the Urals were not forgotten.
To demonstrate their knowledge, 14 participating teams from Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan arrived in Yekaterinburg.
The results of the performances were not long in coming. In their poetic «business card», our students briefly introduced Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek and their native university, speaking, naturally, in national clothes. They completed it to the sounds of a komuz, presenting the owners «of the school» with Kyrgyz souvenirs, as well as books by the great Chingiz Aitmatov, and treating everyone present to boorsoks. The students' performance drew enthusiastic applause from the audience!
As for reports and professional competitions, «Slavic» doctors deserved 7 first places, 12 second and 5 third. In terms of the number of prizes, the most distinguished were Baktybek kyzy Nurida, Eliza Apsamatova, Alina Akylbekova, Faride Orozalieva, Aiganysh Aalieva and Shirin Urmatova. In addition, all participants were awarded diplomas in the category «First time on skis». The head of the delegation received a certificate of advanced training and gratitude.
In general, Kyrgyzstanis brought 24 diplomas of various denominations to Bishkek, a letter of gratitude to the rector of KRSU, and most importantly – feelings of satisfaction and gratitude to the hospitable Urals organizers of these wonderful readings!
