«Memory lessons» in KRSU: how to talk to young people about the Great Patriotic War — sincerely and to the point
A meeting was held at KRSU as part of the «Memory Lessons» project dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Representatives of the expert community of Kyrgyzstan, as well as Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Imankulov, came to talk with the students.
The project was initiated by the Center for Expert Initiatives «Oy Ordo» and is being implemented with the support of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic. Its goal —not just to recall the events of 1941– 1945, but to talk about the war in such a way that young people really hear. Without templates and pathos — with facts, figures, stories that catch you.
During the meeting they said that more than 360 thousand Kyrgyzstanis went to the front. More than 100 thousand of them did not return. About how the rear worked — factories, hospitals, evacuation. How in the republic they shared the last piece of bread with the settlers and at the same time collected money for the construction of tanks.
—Today it is important not to forget, but to understand, — Marat Imankulov noted in a conversation with students. — Understand why this war was terrible. Why Victory — is not just a word. And why memory — is a responsibility.
The project is scheduled for 2025–2026 and includes lectures and dialogues with high school students and students across the country. At KRSU, this meeting was one of the first — and, judging by the audience reaction, not the last.
