KRSU discussed a strategic partnership with «Rosatom»
At the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, a meeting was held between the rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov and the representative of the State Corporation «Rosatom» Ksenia Nikolaeva and the general director of the representative office in Kyrgyzstan Dmitry Konstantinov. The negotiations were devoted to strategic cooperation in the field of science, education and infrastructure development.
One of the key topics was the creation of a modern research center on the basis of the future KRSU campus. Its structure will include laboratories, design bureaus and world-class installations, including a cyclotron. «This will allow the university to strengthen its position in training engineers and specialists in nuclear medicine, and will also give students the opportunity to work at advanced installations», – emphasized Sergei Volkov.
Special attention was paid to the launch of a joint program with Tomsk Polytechnic University. Next year, KRSU plans to open a master's degree in nuclear medicine. It will allow training specialists in the field of radiology, radiopharmacy, chemistry and medical physics. «The project to establish a Nuclear Medicine Centre has received the support of the Kyrgyz Government and is to last for five years. During this time, we must train more than 80 specialists», – noted Ksenia Nikolaeva.
The parties discussed practical issues: licensing of educational programs, design of research premises, selection of personnel and organization of targeted training for students. Particular attention was paid to the preparation of technical specifications for the design of the cyclotron complex. The topic of creating a design bureau for hydraulic structures, organizing joint R&D and the participation of KRSU students in internships at enterprises «Rosatom» was also touched upon.
As a result of the negotiations, it was decided to prepare «a road map». It will cover educational programs, research projects and infrastructure solutions. «We are building systematic work that will allow the university to become a scientific center at the regional level and give our students unique opportunities for development and professional growth», – summed up Sergei Volkov.
