An exhibition «For the Glory of the Motherland, in the Name of Victory» opened at KRSU
The opening of a historical and documentary exhibition «For the Glory of the Motherland, in the name of Victory» took place at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, organized as part of the visit of the delegation of the Tambov region to Kyrgyzstan. The exhibition is dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and is aimed at preserving the common historical memory of peoples.The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic Sergei Vakunov.The exhibition project was implemented with the participation of the Government of the Tambov Region, Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin, KRSU and Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaeva.The exhibition included archival documents, letters from the front, photographs, memories of war participants, as well as materials reflecting the contribution of the Tambov region and Kyrgyzstan to the common Victory.Particular attention in the exhibition is paid to the theme of the unity of the peoples of the USSR, the work of the hospital system in the rear, the labor exploits and destinies of specific people who became symbols of heroism and dedication.Professor of Tambov State University Vladimir Romanov noted that the exhibition emphasizes the importance of preserving historical memory and countering its distortion:«The main value and main figure of war is man, hero. This exhibition shows once again that we live in a single historical space, and it is our responsibility to preserve this memory».He also emphasized the scale of the Tambov region’s contribution to the Victory, recalling that hundreds of thousands of residents of the region were mobilized, many of them did not return from the front, and hundreds became Heroes of the Soviet Union.The moderator of the event from the Kyrgyz side, Leonid Sumarokov, drew attention to the importance of interregional historical ties and their understanding:«The exhibition presents two important lines: the history of the Tambov region and the history of Kyrgyzstan during the war. These materials are especially important for young people, since they confirm the fact of the unity of peoples, thanks to which Victory was achieved».According to him, the exhibition reveals not only military, but also humanitarian aspects of history, examples of mercy, assistance to evacuees and children of besieged Leningrad, as well as the fate of soldiers whose life paths connected different regions of the Soviet Union.A separate block of the exhibition is dedicated to military formations in which natives of Kyrgyzstan and the Tambov region served, as well as joint pages of military history, including the participation of cavalry divisions and the activities of hospitals.The organizers emphasize that the project is aimed not only at preserving historical heritage, but also at strengthening humanitarian ties between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, developing among young people an interest in studying history and respect for the feat of their ancestors.
