An international conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the SCO was held at KRSU
The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University hosted the annual international conference of the Department of International Relations and Political Science of the Faculty of International Relations «25 years of the SCO: together for sustainable peace, development and prosperity», dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the SCO.The conference participants included representatives of the scientific and expert community of Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan and China, teachers, researchers, undergraduates and students. Experts from the Higher School of Economics, Lanzhou University, North Caucasus Federal University, Southern Federal University, OshSU, International University of Kyrgyzstan and other partner universities take part in the forum.The participants' reports were presented in Russian and English, which made it possible to ensure broad international academic dialogue and the participation of foreign researchers.HSE Professor Nikolai Nikolaev addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He noted the importance of scientific and educational cooperation within the Eurasian space and emphasized the importance of developing KRSU as a joint educational platform.«I am very pleased to visit KRSU, especially since a decision was recently made to finance the construction of a new university campus. Joint scientific and educational work — is the key to our common future. It is especially important that serious issues of international interaction begin to be discussed precisely at the level of science and the expert community», — noted Nikolai Nikolaev.Professor of the Department of International Relations and Political Science at KRSU Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov emphasized in his speech that over a quarter of a century the SCO has turned into one of the largest international associations of our time.«Today, the SCO unites about half of the world’s population and remains an important platform for developing solutions in the context of global transformations. Our conference is dedicated to understanding the role of the organization in the changing world order, security issues and the youth agenda», — noted Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov.Dean of the Faculty of International Relations KRSU Ainura Akmatalieva presented a report on the strategic capabilities and limitations of the SCO in the context of the transformation of the world system of international relations.The conference includes three thematic sections: strategic opportunities and limitations of the SCO in the context of the metamorphosis of the world order, issues of global and regional security of the SCO countries, as well as the youth agenda, artificial intelligence and digital sovereignty.HSE Professor Nikolai Nikolaev made a report on the role of environmental safety in ensuring stability in the SCO space. During the discussion, expert Kubat Rakhimov noted the need to strengthen the subjectivity of the countries of Central Asia and presented the concept of interaction «C5+Big2».Special attention during the conference was paid to the participation of young researchers. The sections were attended by students, undergraduates and graduate students of KRSU and foreign universities, presenting research on international security, digital diplomacy, artificial intelligence and international cooperation.Following the conference, participants emphasized the importance of further strengthening scientific and expert dialogue within the SCO, expanding academic cooperation between universities of the organization’s member countries, as well as actively involving young people in discussing issues of international security, digital development and the future of the Eurasian space.
