A solemn ceremony of canceling postage stamps dedicated to Kyrgyzstani Heroes of the Soviet Union took place at KRSU
A solemn ceremony of canceling a limited series of postage stamps dedicated to Kyrgyzstanis — Heroes of the Soviet Union took place at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. These stamps perpetuate the feat of those who defended their Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. This project, dedicated to the anniversary of the Victory, was the result of joint efforts of the editorial office «of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta – Kyrgyzstan» and OJSC «Kyrgyz Post Office» with the support of the Russian Embassy in the republic and Russian patrons of the arts.
The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Kyrgyzstan Sergei Ivanovich Vakunov, acting Rector of KRSU Sergei Yuryevich Volkov, General Director of OJSC «Kyrgyz Post Office» Marat Zholdoshbekovich Cherikchiev, as well as representatives of cultural and scientific circles. According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Sergei Vakunov, postage stamps — are not only a philatelic object, but also a powerful educational tool:
«It's not just a piece of perforated paper, it's actually a very valuable source of information. Victory in the Great Patriotic War — this is our history, our pride and our responsibility. This project is important because it helps preserve the truth about the heroes who ensured our existence».
General Director of OJSC «Kyrgyz Post Office» Marat Cherikchiev spoke about the importance of the special cancellation procedure:
«Special stamp cancellation — this is a unique process. Redeemed stamps have special value and preserve the memory of significant events. After today, the special stamp will be withdrawn from circulation, which gives these stamps special exclusivity».
Marat Cherikchiev noted that the stamps will not be sold, since this is a holiday issue, but in the future it is planned to create an additional edition for collectors.
The series includes 73 stamps, each of which is dedicated to a specific Hero of the Soviet Union from Kyrgyzstan. The circulation was only 250 copies, which makes the issue unique.
The stamp cancellation ceremony at KRSU became a significant event that reminded us of the need to preserve the memory of the exploits of our ancestors.
«These stamps — are more than historical memory. They inspire us to realize the importance of the feat of the heroes who defended our Motherland. They connect us with those who ensured our future», — emphasized Sergei Volkov, acting rector of KRSU.
Dmitry Evlashkov, editorial director «Rossiyskaya Gazeta – Kyrgyzstan», noted: «This project — is a symbol of gratitude that unites generations and countries».
The organizers emphasized that copies of the stamps will be given to the relatives of the heroes, as well as to the museum on Poklonnaya Hill, the Museum of the Armed Forces, as well as to the administration of the President of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council, the State Duma and the Ministry of Defense. The editors of «Rossiyskaya Gazeta – Kyrgyzstan» also plan to transfer one set each to the relatives of the heroes and in the near future issue a series of stamps dedicated to the holders of the Order of Glory from Kyrgyzstan.
Postage stamps dedicated to the Heroes of the Soviet Union — are a symbol of pride, unity and gratitude that continues to unite generations.
